Software introduction

The gamebook experts at Aussie indie Tin Man Games will release not one, not 84, but two new Gamebook Adventures on the App Store at around midnight tonight. That's book 11, Songs of the Mystics, and book 12, Asuria Awakens.

Book 11 makes you the daughter of the Earth Queen - the leader of the Mystics, who hang out on the secluded Isla des Misticos. Someone's out to kill ya, but you can also unleash magical abilities through singing so it's not all bad.

You've got 15 songs to use, as you make your way through a personalised narrative that shifts and changes depending on your choices. You can also change the difficulty setting, if you prefer to read with the threat of CONSTANT MURDER.

Songs of the Mystics will cost £4.49 / $5.99 when it goes live worldwide.

Book 12, on the other hand, takes place i the remote Orlandrian coastal town of Casporur. Sadly, the emissary from Orlandes City has gone missing, it’s up to you to investigate the disappearance. Something's always amiss in these books, innit?

This one has character customisation, where you can become skilled in persuasion, strength, throwing, and deduction. Again, Asuria Awakens will will set you back £4.49 / $5.99 on iOS.

Both games should also crop up on Android in the future.

Monument Valley's recent Forgotten Shores update, a Gold Award-winning expansion that our review called "even more inventive and surprising" than the original, is out now for Android.

Forgotten Shores adds eight chapters to the original game's ten, and costs £1.49 / $1.99 as an in-app purchase.

The base game sells for £2.49 / $3.99 on iOS and Android.

The price of the expansion caused some controversy a few weeks ago following its launch on iOS, with several customers changing their original score to a 1-star on the App Store in protest.

This backlash also saw backlash of its own, with some critics accusing players of not truly valuing the work that goes into creating games.

Monument Valley, which our review called a "brilliant, breathtaking" adventure, also received a Gold Award.

You can purchase both the original game and its Forgotten Shores expansion on Google Play now.
"I am your friend and you are mine, for always," she said. "Such a friend as I never had before. I have had many dear and beloved friends--but there is a something in you, Leslie, that I never found in anyone else. You have more to offer me in that rich nature of yours, and I have more to give you than I had in my careless girlhood. We are both women--and friends forever."

In this game, you will start in a sleepy horror village named- Duskwood. Which is surrounded by dense forest, and the forest seems so scary for everyone; it undoubtedly creates a sense of fear in everyone’s mind. When you enter the game, you will be directed to a chat group. Where you will chat with strangers, and the only phone number you will find here is yours. Random messages will be flown in your phone, and each message contains and uncovers a hint.
The latest game from Kairosoft, the folks behind Silver Award-winning Game Dev Story, is here.

It's called Biz Builder Delux and you can buy it on either the App Store or Google Play for £3.99 / $4.99.

Previous Kairosoft games let you run a bakery, a school, an anime studio, and more.

Biz Builder Delux gives you the chance to become the best entrepreneur in town and run several business at once: fast food places, video game stores, coffee shops, and more.

You'll also need to figure out how to compete with business rivals, invest in R&D, train staff, and ultimately climb your way to the top.

Grab the game now on the App Store or Google Play for £3.99 / $4.99.
&#;

    &#;&#;
We’ve known about Minecraft Earth, Mojang’s foray into the world of AR, for a little while now, but the news today is that sign-ups for the game’s closed beta have now opened, with the first batch of players set to gain access within the next couple weeks.

The closed beta trailer promises a "living, breathing Minecraft world", fit with many similar mechanics from the main game. It’s obviously very much like Niantic’s Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, though there are some neat new ideas here that could set it apart.

    by William Shakespeare
Warning: Pine Entertainment is bringing out Century City on iOS next week. It will suck you in and refuse to let go.

Joking aside, this is an incremental game like Cookie Clicker and Bitcoin Billionaire. But it's all wrapped up as a town builder. It's an engrossing concoction.

Century City starts you with a bare town with no buildings. So you have to head into the gold mine and get tapping away to instruct your miner to dig up gold.

With that first spurt of money, you can buy a building, which itself will start making money for you.

Then you head back into the mine to get more gold. Perhaps next time you'll buy an upgrade for your miner or building so that they earn more gold per tap or per second, respectively.

You can see how it goes: this cycle repeats until you're making loads of money every second, buying more buildings and new upgrades constantly.

It helps that every button you push seems to pop, both visually and audibly. It makes the many interactions you perform every second that much more engrossing.

There are also mini-quests to beat, a casino to visit to gamble your money for bigger bucks, and lots of achievements to earn.

You can even visit a friend's town to earn other rewards, ask for their help in building your city, and more interactions that will arrive in future updates.

As said, it gets hard to put down once you get wrapped up in that fast-moving and satisfying loop. There's a lot to do, a lot to distract you, and you become eager to do it all.

Century City will be out on April 22nd on iOS. If you plan on playing it, make sure you free up some time, as it won't let go.
"I must be going now," said Captain Jim slowly at last. He took up his hat and looked lingeringly about the room.

Effects of terror and dear modesty,
Sad times ahead, ladies and gents, as Nintendo will officially be making its final Wii U consoles this week. Whether that's surprising to you, I think we can all give Nintendo a 'District 12' sign of appreciation as they (apparently) close the line this coming Friday.

A post by Eurogamer, and its mysterious but trustworthy sources, stated that as of September Nintendo has sold 13.36 million Wii U units worldwide and is unlikely to shift much more. As such they've decided to quit while they're ahead and look to the future, closing the lid on the semi-successful Wii U for the last time.

Now that the Switch has been confirmed it'll be all systems go in an attempt to appropriately market and reveal the hybrid console, and avoid a disappointed flump like they received with the Wii U. I guess we'll have to wait until January 13th to see what else Nintendo has in store for us.

If you've been 'umm'ing and 'ahh'ing for the past four years about getting a Wii U, now's your chance – not that there won't be a variety of them floating about on eBay in the years to come.
